People working at Google have come up with a free tool called Google Search Console that helps you to get as much information about your website as you can.

Google Search Console was initially called as Webmaster Tools. It basically works as a command center that helps website owners’ to check the things that are happening inside and on the website of the owner. Not only this, Google Search Console is one of the powerful tools that help you to increase the web traffic to your site.

Google Search Console has been recently updated and given new looks. It has really become quite easier to understand your website in a better way. So, let us check this ultimate Beginners guide to Google Search Console.

How can you connect to this tool?

The first thing you need to ensure to use this tool is that you are the actual owner of the domain and the website as well. This process is basically called verification and a little bit technical as well.

  • The First step is to Sign into this tool.
  • Then enter the URL of your website and click on the option ‘Add A Property’.
  • Then go to ‘Alternate methods’. Under this select HTML tag method and copy the code of that meta tag.
  • Leave this page open, and open new tab sign to sign in to your account on Wix.com.
  • Go to the Editor and Click on SEO under Site manager under Site to add header code.
  • Paste the code of the Meta tag that you copied in step 3 above.
  • Publish your site.
  • Go back to the tool’s page and check the verify option.

Count your Clicks

Google Search Console is a perfect tool. You can use this tool to check the number of clicks on your page. You can get this information under the ‘Status’ section of this tool under ‘Performance’. You can even set different time frame and check the number of clicks, each page is getting. If you find that the number of clicks on any page is going down then you must work on that page and introduce some changes to control the situation.

Page Information

This tool helps you to get the complete information about the individual web pages also. All you need to do is to click on the page tab under this tool and get the information about the uploaded page. Every page of your website needs to have a dedicated URL. Check individual pages to see which page is getting more traffic and which page isn’t bringing traffic and need to be changed.

Sitemap Submission

Sitemap, as the name suggests, is a simple map containing the route of your site. You can use this tool to send the sitemap of your site to the search engine. It would definitely help you to optimize your page for the SEO.
