Search Engine Optimization is a trend that has been on the rise. Websites are redefining their content in order to optimize the material, and to meet the standards expected of them as per SEO guidelines. However, as this trend grows more popular by the day, a number of myths have begun to do their rounds. Here are some of the most common rumors about SEO, and the fact behind the myth. After all, the truth needs to surface sooner or later, does it nor?

Busting The Most Common SEO Myths

1. Myth – SEO Methods do not Work

Fact – Close to forty five percent of the people who seek to make a purchase online begin their search by using a search engine instead of the website that sells the product. According to a popular survey, search engines are one of the most accessed online resources, preceded only by social media, email sites, and video channels.
Naturally, with search being such a popular online activity, optimizing the content on a site so that it ranks higher on a search engine is never futile.

2. Myth – SEO Services are Expensive

Fact – The reason that this myth was born is that people tended to only focus on the expenses that a business incurs for hiring SEO services. The benefits derived from these services were quite obviously not considered. In reality, when a business avails SEO services, the fees demanded are for a range of services, including –

  • Industry research
  • Competitive analysis of the market and trends
  • Finding effective keywords
  • Building links
  • Optimizing content
  • Maintaining, monitoring, and analyzing results

When all these activities are taken into account, it is clear that SEO is an economical technique, and not an expensive one.

3. Myth – SEO cannot beat Traditional Business Tactics

Fact – The internet is the biggest marketing resource available to businesses today. Print media, television, and the like may not have died away. However, more than three quarters of the population relies on online search engines to assist them in making purchases. This is a clear indicator that turning away from the internet, and not exploiting its innumerable advantages, is extremely disastrous for the future of a business.

4. Myth – SEO requires Complete Revamping of a Website

Fact – While this may be true only in extreme cases, where the existing website of a business to too incompetent, it is not valid in most cases. Websites need to be improved in order to rectify defects such as poor design, weak structure, and baseless media. However, this merely involves touching up the existing content, and giving it a better shape, instead of redoing the work from scratch.

5. Myth – SEO is Constantly Changing

Fact – Although search engines change their search algorithms several times a year, these will not majorly affect your SEO tactics. Only a handful of these constant update make it to the market. The rest of the changes are so minor that the user does not even notice them in the first place. So the truth is, while SEO does involve several updates, a large majority of them do not require any kind of response or redesign from the website.
